Credit by Examination (UNDERGRADUATES ONLY) You may request to challenge courses because of special studies or experiences. A challenge consists of taking an examination on the course material rather than taking the whole class. Challenged courses earn university credit, but do not earn residence credit. Credit by Examination Petitions are available at the department office. On the petition, obtain permission from an instructor who teaches the class and from the department chair. Then Register for the class through e-SAILOR. You must take the examination and receive a grade before the end of the Add/Drop Period. Some departments only permit CR/NC challenges. If you earn a grade of C- or better, or CR, the earned grade will appear on your record, along with a notation of credit by examination. If you earn a grade of D+ or lower, or NC, you may continue attendance or officially drop the class during the Late Registration Add/Drop Period. |
