For many years, the IC CSUEB (formerly CSUH) office in Tokyo has selected, advised and prepared Japanese high school graduates for a successful bachelor's degree at Cal State East Bay. Their unique service, involving months of preparation and an intensive course in Tokyo just before leaving, has laid the foundation for the success of Japanese students on our campus. After arrival, the students spend several quarters in the English Intensive program at ALP, and then get weekly advice and support from their ALP advisors in their freshman year in university.

IC students' time to graduate and their drop-out rate is well below average for all students and we regard this program as an important model.
